No supply problem foreseen in Boral/Bridgestone deal

"Michelin customers in Australia will continue to have wide access to Michelin truck tyres past the proposed acquisition of Boral Tyres by Bridgestone," Michelin Australia’s managing director Xavier Martinez said today.

"Boral Tyres has been retailing our products since we established the Michelin owned agency in Australia in 1997. Whilst we acknowledge and appreciate their support for us over time, we have, in line with our plans for long term business growth actively developed a strong independently owned dealer network across Australia," Mr Martinez said.

"It is this network which will ensure that customers continue to have reliable access to Michelin truck tyres and quality service both locally and nationally. Michelin is also committed to the further development of this network and we propose to make some important announcements regarding this in the near future."

Michelin also plans to establish its Recamic retreading process in Australia before the end of next year, further extending its services to customers.

"As one of the world’s leaders in retreading, we see significant advantages in bringing the Recamic process to Australia," Martinez claimed.

Since the establishment in Australia of its own warehousing, sales and marketing operation, Michelin has successfully focussed on the development of strong national dealer networks for its extensive range of quality passenger, light truck, heavy truck and earthmover products. The strategy is resulting in strong business growth.

Michelin trades with 200 truck dealers nationally and a further 600 dealers for passenger car products. Michelin advises customers who require any clarification on product supply and service to call 1800 776600 for information.
