Walsh entered the final event with a commanding lead of 37
points gained through the series that saw him competing for the Quick Hunnisett Racing
Team in Thailand, The Philippines, Malaysia and China. He consolidated his win with two
pole positions and two race wins.
Aged 25 and living in Sydney, Ben has an impressive record dating back to his
competitive start in racing Sprint Karts from the age of 13 years. Switching to car racing
in 1993 Ben Walsh showed his potential in Holden HQ sedan racing and in 1994 he competed
successfully in France at Magny-Cours in Formula Renault.
In 1998 Ben joined the Hunniset Aim Racing Team with Australian Meat and Livestock as
his major sponsor with recent additional assistance from Michelin Australia which allowed
Ben to compete in the final rounds of the F.I.A. Ford Asian Formula 2000 International
Championship.
