Odyssey triples its NRMA awards

Odyssey.jpg (25740 bytes)The Honda Odyssey today was named the Best Passenger Wagon in the NRMA’s Best Cars Awards for the third year in a row.

The award comes just a week after the Odyssey scooped the Best People Mover Award in the RACV’s Best Buys Awards for the fourth consecutive year.

Accepting the NRMA award, Honda Australia Senior Director Neal Robertson said: "The Odyssey was upgraded at the start of the year, including a larger, more powerful 2.3 litre VTEC engine, re-engineered automatic transmission and fresh new interior trim.

"In fact since its introduction in 1995, the Odyssey has been progressively upgraded and refined. All these factors seem to be appreciated by independent motoring organisations like the NRMA, which have consistently chosen the Odyssey as best in its field."

Additional features for 1998 include centre arm rests in the middle row of seats, in the seven-seat model, an improved immobiliser, new-look grille, clear tail light lenses and body-colour trim in areas that were previously black.

The Odyssey is available in six and seven-seat configurations, both priced at $42,500.

Standard equipment includes dual SRS airbags, ABS brakes, twin air-conditioners and cruise control.

Other Odyssey awards include Wheels magazine’s 1995 Car of the Year, and Japan Car of 1994.

Recently it was named Best Value People Mover, in Sydney radio station 2KY’s 1998 Car of the Year Awards.
