Honda President and CEO, Mr Hiroyuki Yoshino, has
restated the company's goal to re-enter Formula One racing in the year 2000.Speaking at
an end-of-year press conference in Tokyo today, Mr Yoshino said a prototype Honda Formula
One car was driven last week near Milan, Italy.
"We plan to start tests of this racing car from the beginning of next year. Our
goal is to begin race competition in 2000," Mr Yoshino said.
It will be Honda's third era of Formula One. From 1964-68 and 1983-92 Honda
participated as an engine manufacturer.
In March this year Honda began a feasibility study on re-entering Formula One.
