Commodore wagon with LPG
Introduced as a factory-fitted option on Commodore wagon in August 1998, the ‘dual fuel’ Holden LPG system can reduce fuel bills by up to 42 per cent. It is available on Commodore wagons with an ECOTEC V6 engine/automatic transmission combination.

With its dual fuel capacity, the system features instant switch-over to petrol operation and offers the bonus of long range driving capability. The 60-litre LPG tank is located in the wagon’s spare wheel well for added safety; the spare is re-positioned in the cargo area.

Holden engineers utilised advanced LPG technology to design a system that allows easier starting, hot or cold. Engine management systems are re-calibrated to deliver a level of performance that is difficult to differentiate from the petrol-fuelled variety. Rear suspension is upgraded to maintain ground clearance and Commodore’s high-standard ride and handling characteristics. The fuel gauge automatically shows the level of petrol or LPG, whichever is being used, and the trip computer calculates ‘distance to empty’ for both fuels. An LPG filler is located behind the standard Commodore fuel filler door. Inside, the integrated fuel selection switch is conveniently located on Commodore’s centre console.
