A
left-hand-drive export version of Australia s top-selling Holden Commodore
was voted Most Admired Car at the recent Sao Paulo Auto Show in Brazil.The
Commodore is soon to go on sale in Brazil, wearing the General Motors Chevrolet Omega
nameplate. It was previewed at the 20th Sao Paulo Auto Show (29 October-8
November) after being enthusiastically received at a special launch attended by major
Brazilian GM dealers.
Thirty-three automotive manufacturers were represented at the largest-ever Sao Paulo
Auto Show, and the Commodore was voted Most Admired Car in a poll of Auto Show
visitors conducted by the countrys largest newspaper, the Folha de Sao Paulo.
Runners-up were the new VW Golf and GMs Opel Astra. Other new model contenders
included the S-class Mercedez-Benz, Volvo S80, Alfa Romeo 166 and Peugeot 206.
