The Commodore is soon to go on sale in Brazil, wearing the General Motors Chevrolet Omega nameplate. It was previewed at the 20th Sao Paulo Auto Show (29 October-8 November) after being enthusiastically received at a special launch attended by major Brazilian GM dealers.

Thirty-three automotive manufacturers were represented at the largest-ever Sao Paulo Auto Show, and the Commodore was voted ‘Most Admired Car’ in a poll of Auto Show visitors conducted by the country’s largest newspaper, the Folha de Sao Paulo.

Runners-up were the new VW Golf and GM’s Opel Astra. Other new model contenders included the S-class Mercedez-Benz, Volvo S80, Alfa Romeo 166 and Peugeot 206.
