New appointment puts more focus on Sydney market

Holden Ltd chairman and managing director Peter Hanenberger today announced the appointment of Don Bowden as - Resident Director Sydney - effective 1 January 2000.

This new position has been created to further heighten Holden’s profile in Australia’s largest and most competitive market.

In making the appointment Mr Hanenberger said that it signalled Holden’s determination to increase its competitive presence in the 2000 Olympics host city.

"Holden recognises that Sydney, with its geography, size and population, presents some unique challenges and the company has decided to boost its presence by creating this senior position," he said.

"Don Bowden brings with him a wealth of experience gained during his over thirty year career with Holden, including six years as managing director of Holden New Zealand. During his time in New Zealand, Holden sales showed significant growth and the company managed its way through some major structural change that further lifted the company’s competitive standing in the New Zealand market.

"I believe Don Bowden has much to contribute to the Sydney market and his new role will place greater focus on the Holden brand in this most competitive of business environments" Mr Hanenberger concluded.
