Holden’s ‘Best Bathurst Banner’ competition
was yet another outstanding success on the FAI 1000 race weekend.
The standard of creativity in
delivering visual interpretations of Holden’s 50th Anniversary theme added
immense colour to the event.
While the winner, Steven Everett of East Maitland in NSW, picked up a new SS Commodore
V8 courtesy of Holden Motorsport, over 140,000 calls jammed telecaster Channel Ten’ s
switchboard, as viewers voted for the best banner in order to claim the one-off HSV Club
Sport Bathurst Safety Car, won by Greg Connell of Hervey Bay in Queensland.
Channel Ten Manager Network Sport, Michael Audcent, said, "This sort of
competition gives our Bathurst telecast extra flavour. There were some amazing efforts -
it was a difficult exercise to choose a winner," he added.
