Affordable Barina Cabrio set for a sellout summer
In a move aimed at consolidating Barina Cabrios position as the most affordable
convertible on the Australian market, Holden has added air conditioning, power steering
and a CD player.
Based on the 3-door Barina City, the attractive Euro-styled Cabrio offers the
sedans full complement of comfort, convenience, performance and safety benefits.
Driver and passenger airbags are standard, along with a six speaker
stereo, a multi-function display with time, date, outside temperature and audio controls,
and an engine immobiliser. The Barina Cabrio has a powerful (60kW) 1.4 litre engine,
teamed with 5-speed overdrive manual transmission or optional 4-speed electronic control
automatic.
According to Holdens small and medium cars marketing manager, Gerry Groenewegen,
production of the Barina Cabrio has been stepped up to satisfy an anticipated surge in
demand during the summer months.
"Going on last years experience - and given the fact that the Cabrio now offers
better value than ever - were expecting a complete sellout before the summer is
over," he said.
"Holden dealers are already taking delivery of these high-spec new models, which on
anybodys reckoning represent a really attractive proposition for buyers who want to
enjoy the open air experience of soft-top driving in passenger car comfort - at a
realistic price."
Barina Cabrio, styled by a European design house, is available in a choice of four
colours: Diamond Black, Star Silver, Arden Blue and Marseille Red. It features a centre
roll bar for enhanced safety and structural rigidity. The black soft top can be raised or
lowered in a simple one-and-a-half minute operation and it folds neatly above the cargo
area without taking up luggage space.
