`Most Respected’ automotive company in survey

DaimlerChrysler is already one of the world’s most respected companies.

In an international survey, conducted by Price Waterhouse Coopers and the Financial Times, DaimlerChrysler was ranked as the fifth most respected company in the world, behind General Electric, Microsoft, Coca-Cola and IBM.

DaimlerChrysler is the parent company of Mercedes-Benz, and was one of only two automotive engineering organisations included in the worldwide top ten.

This was the second survey of "The World’s Most Respected Companies" conducted by the consulting and financial auditing firm and the business newspaper. The former Daimler-Benz finished sixth last year.

Jürgen Schrempp also did well this year: The DaimlerChrysler chairman was named best CEO in Europe and came in fourth place overall.

The survey polled 754 heads of private and state-run companies and large organisations involved in 15 business sectors in 75 countries.
