Lanos gets Sporty

Daewoo’s Lanos range has been expanded to include a limited edition Sport model which, unlike some of its competitors,  covers far more than just aesthetics.Lanos Sport.jpg (11049 bytes)

The 1.6 litre DOHC engine represents a significant upgrade over the standard motor, producing 78kW of power @ 5,800 rpm and 145 Nm of torque at 3,800 rpm. (The same engine was previously available in SX model Lanos.)

The package also includes an improved braking system featuring ventilated front discs. This, combined with 14-inch alloy wheels and 185/60 HR 14 tyres, enhances the overall driveability of the vehicle.

Like the entire upgraded Lanos range currently available, the Sport offers greatly improved ride and handling with a re-tuned stabiliser bar, increased shock absorber damping rates as well as a strengthened control arm for better straight-line stability.

Steering on all the new Lanos models has been enhanced with the introduction of a new droop type power steering unit, and NVH levels across the range have been reduced.

Not only has the Lanos Sport benefited from a power, ride and handling upgrade, it also includes the attributes that transform it into a desirable "hot hatch".

The Sport Lanos features colour-coded front and rear bumpers, lower body-side skirts and side-mouldings, 6-spoke alloy wheels, unique tail lamps and a roof mounted rear spoiler.

The interior also benefits from a makeover, with black and red cabin and seat trim, a leather steering wheel and handbrake handle as well as a metallic grain dash.

Other specifications include air conditioning, power windows, central locking, tachometer, 4-speaker CD player, height adjustable driver’s seat, variable speed wipers and a power antenna.

The Lanos Sport is available from today (December 1) at a RRP of $18,000, to which the automatic version will add $2,000. Some special introductory offers will be available during the launch phase.

As for all new Daewoo cars these prices include Daewoo’s exclusive Free Care package, dealer delivery charges, roadside assistance and 3 years/1000,000 km. free scheduled servicing.

The new Lanos Sport will be available in White, Black, Red and Silver but only 300 units are confirmed for the Australian market at this time.
