Holden’s limited edition Barina Cabrio holds plenty of appeal
for value-conscious buyers who want to experience the open air pleasures of soft top
motoring in passenger car comfort. 
Attractively priced at $19,990, this
Euro-styled convertible occupies a market niche all its own.
Based on Holden’s popular 3-door Barina City, the Cabrio offers the full
complement of comfort, convenience, performance and safety benefits.
Driver and passenger airbags are standard, along with a six speaker stereo, a
multifunction display with time, date, outside temperature and audio controls, and an
engine immobiliser.
Performance comes courtesy of a powerful (60kW) 1.4 litre engine, teamed with 5-speed
overdrive manual transmission or optional 4-speed electronic control automatic.
Holden Marketing Manager, Small and Medium Cars, Megan Stooke, says the Barina Cabrio
has already proven its popularity.
"As a test marketing exercise, we allocated a small number to Sydney Holden
dealers over the past few months. The response has been excellent, because they’re
such a stylish package - and there’s nothing comparable at anywhere near the
price," she said.
"People are actually placing orders sight unseen - and in Europe and the UK, where
the Cabrio was first launched, there are waiting lists for it," Megan Stooke said.
Barina Cabrio is styled by a European design house and comes in a full range of the
latest fashion colours*.
The black soft top can be raised or lowered in a simple one-and-a-half minute operation
and folds neatly above the cargo area without encroaching on luggage space, and the Cabrio
features a centre roll bar for enhanced safety and structural rigidity.
For an individual style, buyers can personalise their Barina Cabrio with the addition
of 14-inch, 6-spoke alloy wheels and an eye-catching body kit, comprising a deep front air
dam with fog lamps and side skirts.
The Melbourne International Motor Show marks the national launch of the limited edition
Barina Cabrio, which will be available through Holden dealers nationwide.
