Thank
God for the Salvos, says a charitable Rogers
After he’d spent an estimated $150,000 on the miraculous resurrection of Jason Bargwanna's
battered and bruised Commodore over the past fortnight, you couldn't
blame team owner Garry Rogers for keeping the proceeds raised by an
auction of the unsalvageable car parts to himself.
Instead, he's donated the money - more than $5,500 - to the
Salvation Army.
"After we looked at all the parts from Jason's crash at Phillip
Island we thought it would be a great way of raising a bit of money for
the Salvos," Rogers said.
The most sought-after item in the auction, held at Eastern Creek over
the Round Three weekend, was the car's bonnet (or at least, the biggest
part left of it!).
Bearing the signature seen being
added by Bargwanna, the
fractured fibreglass sold for $750.
