Unique
event set for two states
A MOTORSPORT event open to drivers of all skill
levels, in standard, road-registered vehicles, the third annual Dutton
Rally is this year to be held in its original home of Victoria and also
in New South Wales.
The
Victorian rally will be held in Shepparton and surrounding areas from 8
– 10 August 2003, and organisers have announced the inaugural Dutton
Rally NSW, from 17 – 19 October 2003.
Beginning
in Sydney, the NSW rally will include 17 individual driving tests staged
at Eastern Creek international Raceway, Goulburn Airport, NSW Police
Driver Training Facility and Wakefield Park and Goulburn city centre.
Motoring
aficionados from around Australia gather for the annual Victorian event,
and the inaugural NSW version is expected to be just as popular.
In Victoria, the three days of
competition begin at Shepparton Airport and DECA (Driving Education
Centre of Australia) with slalom and sprints, and wet motorkhana and
circuit sprint. Day two
comprises long circuits and wet circle at Winton Motor Raceway followed
by motorkhana at SPC’s car park, Shepparton, open to spectators.
A combination of drags at Heathcote Park Raceway and auto tests
at Avalon Airport will fill out day three, with the rally completed with
a trophy presentation.
“The
annual Dutton Rally provides the public with a serious motorsport event
that is both fun and competitive,” said event director Sam Beck.
