Justgm, I just tried the link which RigPig put up and it went to the old post that helped me get pictures on. You we able to access my picture back then so are you having trouble getting your own pictures onto your own album?

This is how I now post photos on this forum that exceed the maximum size limit of 1024kb

1. Go to the start menu on your computer and search for the “Paint 3D” program and put it on the desktop
2. Make a new folder on the desktop for photos you want to post on the forum. I called mine “screenshots”
Go to where you have your photos stored and choose the first image you want to post on the forum and make a copy of this image and save it to the screenshots folder. Once you have saved it there reopen this image and push the “Print Screen” button on your keypad. The image will now be screenshot (using this print screen button allows you to post photos with more than the 1024kb limit that the forum allows)
3. Now open the Paint 3D program and paste the screenshot there (NB: on my computer I have to use the control v key strokes to paste the screenshot there)
4. Use the “crop” command at the top of the screen to get rid of the unwanted stuff around the image
5. I now save that image in the folder made in step 2 above by clicking on the folder icon (rectangular shaped icon) at the top left hand side of the screen, which will open to a “Save as Paint 3 D project” screen. Go down to where it says - Save as file and choose the “2D – JPEG” icon. Rename this image if you want to before hitting the save button
6. I now follow Rig Pig’s reply post on this forum’s “Holden General Discussion >>inserting image” posted about 2 months ago. (when I follow his process on my computer I don’t think the screen quite matches every image/step shown there but I seem to get most of the images I screenshot to come into the albums and appear in the posts I have done so far using this method)
I hope this can work for others as it would be good to see more photos of work underway/completed on these cars. NB: If the image I hope to have attached comes through on this post, it was around 1800kb before it was screenshot.

It’s not possible from an iPhone, I know that. Why is it so difficult to put a picture up on an Internet forum, yet so easy on something like Facebook? Just absolutely ridiculous.

Facebook make it easy by having millions of gigabytes of storage on their own servers.
That costs them a lot of money, which they recoup through targeted advertising, spam, addiction, and selling data.

Forum websites, for the most part, are hosted on low-cost servers, owned by volunteers dipping into their own pocket (the exception here is Rare Spares pay fo this site) and don't cram millions of ads all over your screen for the "privilege" of using their platform.

That's a pretty fair trade off for limited storage space, and that's not really a problem when 3rd party hosting (like imgur etc) is so easy to do.

If this forum was full of ads between posts, took you to external sites you didn't want to go to, made you click on spam surveys, and sold your browsing habits to advertisers, you'd be up in arms about it. Is it worth all that for easy uploading? Not to mention something posted on Facebook is gone within a day, and can't be found again. Forum posts are searchable, indexable, and stick around for decades - benefitting others for more than just a day.
Cheers,

Mick

Not really. It’s 2018. Photo hosting should be a standard part of any website. They are useless without it. Clearly secondary photo hosting services are completely unreliable as has been proven recently by one service.
If it takes advertising then use it.
