Each time I've tried hiring a trailer, no lights on the trailer will work.Different rental companies have produced same result. All lights on my '69 holden are working. When I check for current,I'm getting about 10 volts at the last connections before the trailer lights.I believe most rentals are now running led lights.Could this be the problem and could I get the lights working?Anyone got suggestions?I don't believe it's an earth problem.

I would put money on a wiring issue in your plug. Are you sure it’s wired in the correct order?

Sounds like wiring, specifically no 0V or return wire. 10V is a bit low too.

I would not be surprised if the earth wire had come disconnected or broken in the vehicle trailer socket. you have had several tries with different trailers it would be unlikely that they were all faulty, more likely it's your connector. I would also be concerned about 10 volts. Although it is unlikely to be a fault in general wiring as the starter motor and horn would probably not work with 10 volts, a wiring check seems to be in order, a bad connection in the trailer wiring maybe.

I've been running the old 6 pin round plug socket on the car and to hire other trailers find some businesses aren't carrying leads to suit.So I said stuff it and replaced socket with a 7 pin round. Now trailer lights all work.Connection for all circuits on old socket are a bit burnt.I guess under load power to trailer lights just wasn't sufficient.

Its been one of my pet hates...All my life trailer or van lights have never worked properly or at all.
Every time I hook up its the same old story....I have one down somewhere, if its not the blinker its the tail or stop.Crying
I have finally had enough and replaced all the fuse type or bayonets with LED's on van and 9x5.Flapper
I also carry all the adapters....I rent a machine it has a flat ...then the next has a large or small round...is it a 5 pin?...no its 7...Cursing
