I’m having a cunt of a time trying to put rr wheel arch stainless molding on
I’ve got new clips and have the original trim, there’s just no way it will go on
Does anyone have some tips

Use a lubricant of some type. Try silicone spray or a light grease of some type.

Send a PM to gm7535. I'm pretty sure the repro clips (green I think they are) only work really well with the repro moulds, if you have original moulds you are better off with NOS clips. I know Geoff did the moulds on my mate's old HK GTS327 recently and will have a few tips. |

if you have genuine moulds, you have to use the genuine clips, and if they have been repaired, even more so the genuine clips as the moulds would have stretched and be out of shape, even at the best of times these moulds are a pig to fit. i always get 2 other people to help and also if 1/4 has been repaired, even more fun

If your wheel arch lips have been bent up to accommodate wider wheels at some stage the surface area where the trim sits becomes concave and the clip pins become to short. This causes the clips to bend and no amount of cursing will stop the moulds from popping off as you work your way around. Get a small straight edge and put it across the wheel arch surface next to a holding pin and see if it is straight, you shouldn't be able to see any light in the middle of the area where the mould sits. To fix the problem you can weld in new wheel arches, which is probably too late at this stage, or remove the holding pins and fill the wheel arch to make it flat again and then put in replacement pins, which again is probably to late for your car. I've tried to modify the clips by sanding down the edges to fit but with no success.
