Just a quick query.

Just about to put a Recaro Ergomed E seat into my 2011 SR5. The seat and base was put in another 2011 SR5 just before Xmas last year but owner sold the car so kept the seat.

Seat has a large power connector for all the electrics, so that is easy. But it has 2 x wires for the side airbag. I got a seat side plug out of a 2013 Camry today that is the same as the Hilux airbag connector to solder onto the Recaro's airbag wires.

Are the airbags polarity sensitive? ARB tells me they are not, but I want to be certain. Google has not been helpful, plus any pictures are now gone from any forum threads due to Photobucket issue!

The other two wires are for the seat buckle sensor, and it moves to the Recaro base so it is easy!

I've never come across any polarity issues, but to be on the safe side, I'd probe each terminal with a multi-meter for resistance to the metal frame/case of the device (if it has one) just to ensure there's not an earth link across to one of the terminals that could ground out when mounted.

Of all the ones I've blown up (seats and steering wheels) it hasn't mattered which way around they go on the battery. I wouldn't be testing a Takata one though....
Cheers,

Mick

Just heard from Recaro Australia and auto elect mate that polarity doesn't matter. Easy days!
