I've just brought a HJ GTS 4 Door 253
Paint code 567-15941 Claret metallic
But I'm interested in the trim code 60Y chamois with covert & royal cord cloth inserts
Are the royal cord inserts still able to be gotten? And is this a rare combo as I've read that the royal cord was "LS only"
Would anyone have a photo of the 60Y trim so I know what I'm looking for as when I brought it I was told "it's the original trim in it" but the inserts look a lot like the black and white checkered HQ SS raydo cloth, and in my copy of monaro magic it shows the royal cord inserts as a 2 color vertical stripe (similar colors to beige and fawn)
So I'm presuming the seats have been retrimmed but can't find any other info on 60
Thanks!

Does "Y" indicate different trim on GTS compared to LS, Premier or Statesman?

I.e.

- on a GTS 60Y is Chamois/Covert with Chevron Cloth insert

- on a Premier 60Y is 60 Chamois/Covert in Royale Cord

Thanks Warren
So monaro magic is missing info then?
The only chevrons it has is 14z, 18z, 60z, 65z 67z
And the royal cords are 14y, 18y, 45y 60y, 64y 65b 65y
That's why I'm getting confused!

Talk to Brad Hanrahan (Hanra) over at gmh-torana.com.au. He has a Tuxedo black LX XU2 with I think 60Y trim. I think he has the original 60Y inserts in his but I think it is near impossible to get.

Would you also happen to know how many 4 door GTS there were painted in claret metallic? Or how many had that trim?
Thanks Ty

Would you happen to know where I can locate a photo of the 60y GTS trim?
I've just brought your "holden's black book" extremely handy! Thank you
But I just can't find anything on 60y online

No worries mate! It has a similar trim to hq ss raydo in it at the moment but guessing "chevron" would be different

Hi all, so is 60Y chamois vinyl and the inserts are chevron pattern covert inserts?
What colour is the carpet and dash? Does anyone have any pics? Is this a rare trim?

I was wrong in previous postings, the Y trims in the HJ GTS were actually Rado trim, black and white check insert. Discussed this with Ben in SA at nationals.

Thanks again Warren
So the GTS Raydo is defiantly black and white not black and cream or something like that? My interior at the moment looks like it has a yellow tinge to it

So is HJ 60B (and 18X & 67X) actually Chevron? HX simply carried over trim from HJ for the straight vinyl stuff but is cloth different? I have Chamois, tan and black Chevron trim samples but it is in a HX colour/trim book.

I don't think 60Y is raydo inserts, it should be chevron pattern in a chamois colour (light cream). I believe 60X is the raydo inserts which is a light gold and black small checks. 60B in HX also has the chevron chamois colored inserts but dash is black. I believe 60Y is same as 60B (HX) but covert dash. I could be wrong but there is no info on raydo being the insert for 60Y so it must be the chevron? Does anyone know 100% for sure?

Ben Stewart will have the correct information if he said it was Raydo. The link above on oldholden wouldn't be put up by Leroy if it wasn't 60Y on the ID plates (http://gallery.oldholden.com/Mr_Jones/HQ-Z+Interior+Codes/HJ/60+Chamois/GTS/HJ+GTS+60Y+rear1.jpeg.html)

60A is chamois/black (or beige in Belmont and Holden ute/van) and has black where 60V had covert as mentioned. 60B is the same but with the insert which is Chevron in HX so I assume HJ 60B is the same? HJ has 60X, 60Y and 60Z as well and one of these is Royal Cord which I thought was 60X, there is a Herringbone too which may be 60Z which means Raydo should be 60Y.

My Car says 60Y but has been re-trimmed years ago like most cars would have. The original cloth inserts probably wouldn't be in the cars from 40 years ago, most would have been replace by now. That's why no one can tell us exactly what 60Y should be in GTS. If you go to the link you are talking about:
http://gallery.oldholden...ior+Codes/HJ/60+Chamois/

It actually says 60Y in GTS is chevron but the pic under 60Y is raydo. I thought maybe 60X was raydo as the kingswood 60X is definitely chamois with raydo, so you would think GTS would be the same code. To be honest I haven't come across a 60X and especially 60Z, maybe these don't exist. I don't think they are herringbone. Royal cord would be for premier. If someone does have 60X or 60Z can you please advise what your cloth inserts are?

As per the top of this post, Brad Hanrahan has a Tuxedo black LH SLR5000 with 60Y trim. It has its original inserts afaik and they look like Chevron (see below).

You'll find Leroy has labelled it wrong, the photo could belong to a 60Y tagged car but it may be 60X too as you say.

60A/B/Z are HJ update Chamois/Black trims from around 4-5/76. 60V/X/Y are earlier HJ Chamois/Covert.

What is interesting although treat it with only 50% confidence as parts catalogues can be deceptive, the later HJ parts catalogue lists as the same seat covers for 60B and 60Z:

60B and 60Z - 9932415EY

60Y is 9934215ES, 60X is 9932415DV, 60V is 9932414DV and 60A is 9932414EY.

If this is true then 60B and 60Z should both be Chevron (but 60Z may not have been available so they made it the same part number as 60B).

So it is only 60X and 60Y that are confusing which you already know! What is interesting though in HJ Kingswood 60V and 60A share the same part number for the seat cover 9932938DV, and 60B & 60Y do the same 9942251EY, but 60X is different 9942251DV. So for Kingswood this would suggest that 60Y/B are both Chevron - but the fact that for GTS 60V and 60A use a different cover suggest something other than the insert differs between them so it makes sense then that 60B and 60Y in GTS are a different number. Which lends credence to your theory that 60Y (and 60B) are Chevron so 60X must be Raydo. 60Z must also be Raydo (if you believe the HJ parts catalogue) but with something else different?

Note that there is no 60Y trim listed in the HJ release parts catalogue, only 60V and 60X.= and the numbers are the same as listed in the late catalogue.

Herringbone is the black and white Ranier trim used in 18X in HX. Norm Darwin has this listed in Torana tough for 60X but I don't think it is right - however it could be as it is used on 18X trim in HX and LX and it is the only X trim that existed in HX and LX, so maybe HJ was the same?

Here is Brad's seats and body plate:
http://s70.photobucket.c...f6.jpg.html?sort=3&o=103
http://s70.photobucket.c...35.jpg.html?sort=3&o=150

I assume Brad has done the car using black where it would normally be Covert.

EDIT - I just noticed Norm has 60X in earlier LH as Ranier (herringbone) and 60Y as B&W Raydo. SO if this is the case my bet is the insert changed in HJ with LX release. So the answer may be that 60Y is both Raydo and Chevron, just depends on when? I've asked Norm if he has the HJ colour/trim album.
