I bought a new water pump from Repco for the 5 litre in my donor VT. The old pump bearing was stuffed.
I fitted the new pump(so much harder than on the 253 in my WB!) and started the engine. It is spraying a thin spurt out between the pump and timing housing directly under the heater house out let now. I pulled it all back off thinking I must have folded the gasket over but it was fine. I can’t see a crack in the timing case but the pump does sit a little above the timing housing. Any suggestions? I have fitted water pumps before and never had an issue.

Had a better look at it today. There was still old gasket in the timing case. Waiting for a new gasket and cleaned it properly. Hopefully that’s all it is.
