if you use an electronic welding helmet check the battery, i am having trouble getting one. it is a button type and is not available at bunnings, several hardware stores, chemists, woolworths, big w, eveready do not even list them.
will try battery world tomorrow.
has solar battery but useless indoors and barely works in shade out side.
real bugger when you are 300k from anywhere.
suggest you make sure you have a spare.
helmet is a WIA model.

Yeah mine is the same. Stupid thing. I ended up getting a slightly thinner battery from a jewler. I think I will get a new helmet next time.

Sydney tools often have specials on them, like $45.

If the cell is a lithium one, and you can't read the code, you can measure the cell with some verniers (or digital calipers)

The number is the size.

First pair of numbers is the diameter in mm.
2nd pair (or 3 for longer cells) is the length (or height of button cells) x10.

For example, a 20mm diameter cell x 2.5mm thick is a 2025

Likewise the common lithium cells are 18650 = 18mm diameter x 65.0mm long.

Once you have the size, do an ebay search for that number, and you'd be surprised how lucky you can be.

If it's not a lithium cell, it should still have some codes on it, and a voltage. Search those codes on eBay too. You may even be able to convert it to lithium (just be careful as some carbon-zinc button cells are 1.5V, and most lithiums are 3V or 3.7V.

I have some digital verniers (ironically) that took a weird battery - thinner than the common LR44, but thicker than the next thinnest one you can buy locally.
After persisting with the one that was too thin, with a packer in it, I eventually gave in and measured the OEM cell.
I found the matching size on eBay, and got a 10 pack from China for under $5 delivered.
Cheers,

Mick
