Has anyone done this ?these are the 2.02 valves and was wondering if the valves foul the Pistons

You don't want 2.02/1.6 valves on a 307. What bore size is it? If it is bored 4" they'll be OK but then it'll be a 327.

While they'll fit and work you'll end up with valve shrouding like a 202 gets with big valve heads. 1.94/1.5 64cc heads are what you want, with flat tops should be in the vicinity of 9.4:1 compression. Some reads to think about:

Heads have been ported and are 76cc
I think bores are 30thou bored
Just need to know if valves are going to hit because my 307 head is cracked and these are the only other heads I've got

They probably won't hit but they also won't be good as there will be too much shrouding of the valves. Your best bet are either some performance 283 heads (power packs) or a set of fuellies. Depending upon if you need accessory holes or a hole in the LH head for temperature sender or not any of these fuellies will work as long as they are 1.94/1.5 valves:

461 (62cc chamber).
461X (same as 461 but 172cc intake ports).
Rest are all 64cc:
462 (no temp sender hole)
291 (1968 version of 462 - has sender hole, you can run a 291 and 462 on the same engine with the 291 on the LH side).
040 (Tonawanda version of a 291).
186 accessory holes 1969-70 heads.
041 (Tonawanda version of 186).
370 (1970 St Catharine's version of the 041 and 186 but has the 461X intake ports.

76cc heads on a 307! Wow, she'll be running about 8:1 compression! Even the standard 307 with 69cc heads was as low as 8.6-8.7:1.

The other heads that will work well are the Corvette alloy heads. These are 58cc, like these but make sure they are 1.94 valves. I have a pair of these for my HK, my mate had them and he got tabs welded on so that old style rocker covers fit.

Machine shop told me they were 76cc originally
I just picked them up from machine shop
Those dicks fucked it up
Apparently they are 62.5cc
I said to them the casting number says 64cc and cocksneeze that works there said its because they ground heaps out
So I made them redo it at its 62.5 now
Good help is hard to find I may as well have done it myself

Ok I have some more accurate details-I will attempt to fit them and check valves/Pistons clearance

Heads are 3917291 and 3782461 and have been matched
They are 62.5 cc and have 2.02 valves in them
The 307 has Pistons that are 30 thou over and have the grooves out of them for the valves
They don't go flush with the top of the deck strangely

Is it worth a go or am I flushing more NZ paso's down the crapper

How'd they match the heads? 461 and 291 are different combustion chambers. 462 and 291 are the same. I think they moved the spark plug between 461 and 462 as well, raised them a bit.

I still reckon you are wasting your time, but if you own them it's just gaskets and time.

461 and 291 are both 64cc
These heads have been ported and have new stainless valves with studs for roller rockers
I just had a good look and they both look the same spark plug locations look the same chamber looks the same
I guess they planed them to match the cc to 62.5 ,will post the results when I put them on Monday or Tuesday

Being that the pistons are 30over those 2.02 valve should work?

461 should be smaller than 64cc. 291 are 64cc.

You'd probably need to be 0.125" oversize for 2.02 to work properly.

If the pistons are down the bore at TDC use a thinner head gasket to compensate as best as possible. Piston to head clearance should be in the .035-.045" range ideally.

So I bought another set of 461's and got a bit of work at the machine shop , put some nice stainless 1.94 intakes and fit them to the 307
Car goes good now👍

461 for the win
